Meet Gerald Kuehl in Manitou!

Gerald Kuehl, pencil artist and author of the book, Portraits of the North is coming to SCRL during February, coinciding with I Love to Read Month.
Kuehl travelled over 90,000 km by car, plane, bus and train to collect the stories and draw the faces of First Nations, Métis and Inuit elders featured in the book, which has been on the bestseller list for 21 weeks since it was published last June.
Each portrait takes 70 to 100 hours to complete.
Kuehl is a self taught pencil artist who grew up in Pinawa, Manitoba. Over the past 30 years he has drawn everything from wildlife to hockey skates and old trucks.
On Wednesday, February 21, Kuehl will do a presentation about his book and sign copies (that will be available to purchase) at SCRL – Miami branch at 2:00 p.m. and at Manitou branch at 7:00 p.m. On Thursday, February 22, he will be at Morden branch at 2:00 p.m. and Winkler branch at 7:00 p.m.
