Sign Up for a Library Card

A library card is free to any resident of  Altona, Gretna, Manitou, Miami, Morden, Plum Coulee, Winkler, R.M of Pembina, R.M of Rhineland, R.M. of Stanley, & R.M. of Thompson.  Proof of residency is required:  i.e. something that proves you live in or own property in one of the above listed participating municipalities.

Non-residents can join the library by purchasing a family membership. Please ask at your local branch for further information.

A child under 13 may obtain a library card when a parent/guardian comes into the library and signs a registration card.

Your library card can be used at all five branches of the South Central Regional Library. Materials may also be returned to any branch.

While the library is closed you can sign up for a library card from home! Once the account has been created you can access any of our online resources, including free ebooks, movies, study help and more!

Please allow 1 to 2 business days for your account to be created. Once your account has been made, you will receive a phone call or be sent an email with more information.

Library card holders’ rights and responsibilities

You are responsible for all the materials borrowed on your card and for any charges on items that are overdue, lost or damaged. (See Loan Periods and Fines for details). Your library card provides access to licensed databases from outside the library. You may also look at our catalogue from home over the Internet, and access your account to place holds, keep lists and renew items.

Lost or stolen cards

If you lose your library card, you are responsible for any items checked out on your card. You must report it as lost immediately and we will block the card so that no one can use it. There may be a small charge to replace a lost card.

Change of address or password

It is important for us to have your current information. If you change your address or other personal information, contact the library and we’ll update your record.

To change your PIN number, log in to your account, click on the "Account Preferences" tab, and change your password. We do not recommend that patrons use a 4 digit number as their password.  4 digit numbers should only be used for temporary passwords and should be changed to something more secure after the account is created.
