Computer & Internet Use

South Central Regional Library provides computers for public use and access to the Internet. The service is free for library members and users are allowed 1 hour of computer time daily. Access to technology and online resources helps to meet the library’s priorities of being a centre for information access and a place for lifelong learning.
SCRL cannot control the information available over the internet and is not responsible for its content. Information can be found on all subjects and from many viewpoints; however, not all sources provide information that is accurate, complete, or current and some may be offensive.
Free wi-fi is available in all branches.
Cost of printing:
  • $.25/sheet for black & white
  • $.50/sheet for colour printing
Manitoba law requires parental authorization for Internet use by anyone under the age of 18.  As with all materials in the library, parents and guardians are responsible for their children’s use of the Internet and computers. Parents and guardians determine the level of access for their child’s card. Library staff members will not provide supervision to children using computer stations; the child’s account status (as chosen by their parent) determines what they can access.

Acceptable Use Policy:

All users of a public access computer are responsible and accountable for their own actions (in accordance with civil, criminal and other laws) while using the equipment and services available.  Responsible users of the site agree to the following Rules of Acceptable Use and are prepared to be held accountable for their actions and for the loss of user privileges if these rules are violated.  Users of a public access site agree that they:
  1. Will not use a computer to harm other people or their property.

  3. Will not interfere with the operation of the computer equipment or network by installing illegal software, shareware or freeware.
