October Library Month Survey Results

Here are some facts & answers to some of your questions & comments:

  • Monday opening? We will not be open on Monday’s because it is the only time staff can get together for in-services and training in order to provide better service to our patrons.
  • People love their libraries and felt they were organized and busy. Updating the brochures and better/more signage will be addressed soon.
  • Need for more soft seating and tables – drop by your local Branch to see what has already been done!
  • Programs & events: The summer reading program is still very popular.  Teens would like to see more programming for them & we are working on it.  Many people do not attend events yet would like more presentations and authors.  What are we missing that you would like?  Please talk to your Branch Librarian.  We will try to have more contests for both adults and children.  Watch for upcoming events on our Web page and Facebook as well as in your Library.
  • Most thought their library was welcoming, helpful and knowledgeable & had many positive comments. All comments were noted and ones with suggestions for change were given to the Branch Librarians to be addressed as part of our on-going training.
  • ¾ of the 509 people surveyed have had their library card for 5 or more years. Many of these were life-time users.
  • Close at 4:00 on Saturday year-round? 420 patrons felt it wouldn’t affect them or they were supportive of the idea.

Thank you to 509 people who took the time to fill out our surveys at the 4 Branches of South Central Regional Library.

Cathy Ching, Director of Library Services
